For Patients

Q: What should I expect during a mobile ultrasound appointment?
A: Whether your scan is at home or at the GP practice, our mobile ultrasound service comes fully equipped. We use a state-of-the-art portable ultrasound machine to complete your scan. During your ultrasound appointment, a sonographer will use an ultrasound probe (also known as a transducer) to capture and print the requested images. A water-based gel will be applied to your skin in the area being scanned to facilitate sound wave transmission between your body and the probe. The procedure is generally painless and non-invasive.
Q: How long does a mobile ultrasound appointment take?
A: Most appointments take approximately 20 to 45 minutes depending on the type of examination.
Q: Can I combine multiple ultrasound scans in one appointment?
A: Yes, combining multiple ultrasound scans into a single appointment is possible for most scan types and can be more convenient for you. When scheduling your appointment, inform our team of all the scans you require, and we will coordinate accordingly. This approach can reduce the number of visits needed and streamline the diagnostic process, providing comprehensive results in one session. Some scans such as renal ultrasound must be performed separately for Medicare purposes.
