Why clinics book us
Your patients are scanned at the practice they already attend, and the report goes back to the referring doctor.
Looking for a locum sonographer but don't have a machine? We bring our own.
Who we work with
Abdominal, renal, pelvic, thyroid, soft tissue, MSK and vascular scans, including DVT.
A complete abdominal ultrasound with a dedicated intestinal assessment, for diagnosis, surveillance and treatment monitoring.
Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle scans.
Real-time ultrasound guidance while your doctor performs the injection.
Pelvic ultrasound, performed transabdominally.
Venous and arterial duplex scans, including DVT.
Physio clinics: patients need a referral from their GP or specialist to claim a Medicare rebate.
What we do
Our sonographer sees a booked list of your patients in one of your consulting rooms. Each patient needs a referral from a GP or specialist, and every study receives a formal radiologist report.
Your doctor performs the injection while our sonographer provides real-time ultrasound guidance. Our sonographers don't inject or administer medicines. Guidance is billed privately.
What's involved
How it works
We talk through the examinations your doctors refer for and how often sessions would be useful.
We confirm the consulting room and the examinations we'll perform on site.
We can contact patients, book appointments and send preparation instructions such as fasting. Or the practice can manage bookings with us.
Our sonographer arrives with the equipment and scans the booked list.
Sessions usually start monthly and can move to fortnightly or weekly as referrals grow. Morning sessions suit examinations that need fasting.
Reporting
Reports are typically delivered within 24 to 48 hours by email and Medical Objects, where available. Images and completed reports are also available in our online portal.
Urgent findings are communicated on the same day. Because the sonographer is in your rooms, they can raise an urgent concern with the referring doctor before the patient leaves.
Billing
Modia Health-managed billing. We collect the patient fee and submit the eligible Medicare claim on the patient's behalf.
Practice-managed billing. We invoice the practice for each completed and reported examination, and the practice bills its patients under its usual arrangements.
The option can be set for the whole practice or for individual doctors. Injection guidance is billed privately.
